Good Shout is a recommendation service operated by Good Shout Inc. ("Good Shout," "we," "us"). Members use it by text message; anyone can join our email waitlist on this website. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and who can see it.
Information we collect
From waitlist sign-ups: your email address and city, and, if provided, your first name, interests, and how you heard about us (including referral and campaign tracking information).
From anyone who texts us: your mobile phone number, the messages you send us, and our replies; and, if you ask to be in line, when you asked.
From members: the name and home area you tell us; the places, people and things you recommend and the reasons you give; how the recommendations you tried turned out, when you tell us; your answers to our questions (for example, whether we may name you as the source of a recommendation, and whether you want a monthly check-in); who invited you; and, for keys you share, the name you give each key and whether it has been used.
How we use it
To operate Good Shout: answering your questions with recommendations from other members; learning which members' recommendations fit your taste in each category, so we can show you the most relevant ones; building your guide page; crediting and recognizing the people whose recommendations others love; managing keys and the line; and sending the messages you have agreed to receive. We use waitlist information to tell you about your key and our launch.
Who can see your information
Your recommendations are visible only to other members: people in your circles by default, or all members if you mark a recommendation that way. If you share your guide or a shortlist link, anyone with that link can see what it shows; these pages aren't listed anywhere or indexed by search engines. Your recommendations are never sold. If you tell us not to name you, your recommendations are shown as coming from "someone in your circle." You can keep any individual recommendation private. If a recommendation didn't work out for you, that is never shown to anyone.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers who process data only on our behalf, to run the service: Twilio (text message delivery), Supabase (database hosting), Vercel and Base44 (web hosting), Anthropic (processing the text of messages to understand requests and phrase replies), and Google (looking up place names and addresses). We do not permit any of them to use your information for their own purposes. We do not use your information to train AI models.
Text messaging
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the categories above exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties, except the aggregators and providers that deliver the text message service.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Your choices
Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving text messages, including if you're in line. Use the unsubscribe link in any email to stop receiving emails. To see or delete your information, email cynewportbeach@gmail.com or text us, and we will respond within 30 days.
Security and retention
We keep your information only as long as you are a member, in line, or on our waitlist, or as needed to operate the service and meet legal obligations, and we protect it with industry-standard safeguards.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above.
